While we’ve designed revnt to be as intuitive as possible, there are some features that are entirely unique to our platform, so we want to make sure you’re introduced to them and comfortable with how they work before you are live on camera.

The Basics

When you first enter your event, you’ll see a screen fairly similar to the screenshot below.

On the left will be your video display. If you are not a host for this particular session, you will simply see the stream of the current session’s host (or perhaps a static welcome screen if no session is currently live).

Chat

On the right side of the screen are multiple ways to engage with your audience:

  • Public chat rooms (such as General in the screenshot above)

  • Private chat rooms for each individual session (such as “Kickoff”)

  • Direct messages with other participants (“Alex Vanston”).

All of your chat conversations last beyond the live sessions themselves, so you can easily continue conversing with other hosts and attendees even after the live event has completed.

Message Types

There are multiple message types available in Chat, from sharing files to posting polls for people. Click "Type" in the Chat text box to see all the options.

Video Chat

You can also create a video chat within your Private Groups or Direct Messages by clicking the Camera icon next to the chat title.

Note: You cannot video chat with someone while also watching the live event.

Note-taking

We also offer a unique and exciting way to take notes. Every note that an attendee takes are time-stamped to each session, so your attendees can easily jot down their thoughts while you are presenting (see image below).

When attendees return to your session later for review, each note will be synchronized so when they click on a specific note, the video jumps to the exact moment they took the note during your presentation for easy reference and context.

Bookmarks and Highlights

Along with taking notes, attendees can also highlight and bookmark their place at any time during the video presentation. To highlight a particular point of the video content, simply click the star button on the bottom right-hand side of the video. To bookmark a particular point of the video content, simply click the bookmark button on the bottom right-hand side of the video.

Just as with notes, each highlight or bookmark will be synchronized to the event timeline, so when you click on a specific notation, the video jumps to the exact moment you made it.

Please reference the below image as needed:

Audio and Video Settings

Before beginning your event, make sure to join and test your audio, video, and screen sharing. Our platform will automatically select the system default audio and video options, but if you have connected a different camera, microphone, or headphones, make sure to click the small down arrows next to the Audio and Video buttons to view all potential sources.

To test screen sharing, click the share icon at the bottom center of the video window.

You should see a pop-up which will allow you to select which screen, window, or browser tab you wish to share.

Note: Currently, only Chrome supports the sharing of individual browser tabs, application windows, and full screen sharing. Other browsers will be limited in their sharing functionality. We only recommend Chrome when using our platform.

Once you have successfully shared your selection, you shared screen will take the place of your camera feed.

Starting and Recording Your Presentation

When you are ready to begin presenting for your event, click the "REC" button at the bottom right of the video window:

This will automatically begin recording your presentation as well as provide the starting time for all your attendees’ notes, bookmarks, and highlights. This ensures that when your recorded presentation is uploaded back into the revnt platform, anyone who revisits their notes later will be able to jump to the precise moment in your presentation they took each note.

Once you’ve begun your event, you’ll see the "REC" button flash to indicate ongoing recording:

This will continue to display until you have completed your presentation. If you will be utilizing the "Breakout Groups" feature, click the REC button to cease recording.

When the event is over, click the Stop button to cease recording and the platform will automatically upload the video for processing.

Event Schedule and Navigating Sessions

If your event has multiple sessions, as a host you’ll need to access the correct one for your presentation. You can view the entire schedule, and access your sessions, from the schedule dropdown:

If you are presenting at (or attending) multiple sessions, you can “preselect” them beforehand (as seen here for Breakout Discussions), which will prompt you to move to the next session. We won’t automatically remove you from your current session.

Thanks for checking out this overview! Be sure to take advantage of our other in depth walkthroughs on the support page.
